Miley Cyrus has added two new tattoos to her collection of body art.
Between stops on her Bangerz tour, the 21-year-old singer got some fresh ink during her New York City stay from local tattoo artist Bang Bang, who has inked several mainstream celebrities including Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Rihanna.
Cyrus posted a picture on Instagram of her new body art - one of which was the phrase "LOVE YER BRAIN," the title of a Flaming Lips song. Cyrus and Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne are reportedly good friends
"She knew exactly where it was going to go," he told E! News. "She wanted real thin lines, almost like handwriting, but sloppy, not super-neat. She had a bunch of tattoos, and has tried to get that thin clean line. So the font we found is actually called the 'Skinny."'
Bang Bang tried to explain the phrase saying, "It's from her favorite band, The Flaming Lips. It's really just about advice about taking care of yourself and taking care of your temple."
The "Wrecking Ball" singer got a second tattoo of a tiny moon on the inside of her arm. Bang Bang got a matching tattoo of the moon, which Cyrus inked on his finger. He shared a picture of the singer drawing her first tattoo with the caption, "I turned @mileycyrus Into a tattoo artist today."
"She decided she wanted to get a little moon, and when she said that, I told her I'd been thinking about getting a moon myself for a while now, so we got them together," Bang Bang told Us Weekly. "I tattooed her first, it went quick and then I gave her the tattoo gun and taught her how to use it."
He added that he tried to prank the pop star by screaming in pain when she first put the needle to his skin. Cyrus reportedly jumped up, shaking, and walked around for a while until she settled down.
Cyrus already has several tattoos, including a dedication to her late dog Floyd and an anchor.
