The Bluth family is returning to Netflix for Season 5 of "Arrested Development." A few days after Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos said a new season was "just a matter of when," Will Arnett confirmed that the new season has been given the green-light.
During an appearance on "The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon," Arnett said the ball is officially rolling on new episodes.
"The answer is yes," Arnett said when asked about a possible fifth season. "You know, the truth is, that the guy who's the big boss man at Netflix, he announced it. We don't know when, but it's going to happen."
He also confirmed the news to Carson Daly, saying, "Ted Sarandos and Netflix kind of let the cat out of the bag on that one. It's something we all want to do so we're excited."
While speaking to USA Today, Sarandos said the only concern with moving ahead on Season 5 was the actors' hectic schedules. "Arrested Development" originally aired on Fox from 2003 to 2006 before being cancelled due to low ratings.
Even though the show became a cult comedy, many fans and critics complained "that the cast didn't appear on screen often enough together" in Season 4, USA Today reports. Netflix premiered the fourth season in May 2013 and currently the entire series is available for streaming.
"It's the story of a wealthy family that lost everything, and the one son who had no choice but to keep them together. It's the return of the award-winning 'Arrested Development,' starring Emmy nominee Jason Bateman and one of the funniest ensembles in TV comedy, who taught viewers the meaning of 'never nude,' spread a dangerous amount of misinformation about maritime law, and reminded everyone 'that's why you always leave a note,'" Netflix wrote on their site.
