Most eyes will be on Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, who's expected to take snaps Saturday night against Detroit. In addition to the polarizing rookie likely making his pro debut, first-year Browns coach Mike Pettine also will debut.

"Absolutely," Pettine said when asked if Saturday would be special, via the team website. "I'm excited for the guys, too. They've put in so much work and to finally get to go against somebody else. I know they're tired of smacking each other around. I think it'll be a special day, but, to me, it's more for the staff and the team then it is for me personally."

In his first offseason with the team, Pettine already has appeared to earn to the respect of his players.

"Coach Pettine is a players coach, but he's also old school," Browns receiver Nate Burleson said. "You need that. You need a balance. You need a guy who can pat you on the butt and crack a joke with you, but also tear you down if you make a mistake. You need a guy who can ask you about your family but at the same time challenge you to be better as an athlete and as a man. After you take the jersey off you can look at (Pettine) as a friend."

Browns veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer will start for Cleveland, but it's uncertain how many snaps he and Manziel each will get.

Browns rookie cornerback Justin Gilbert, whom Cleveland drafted eighth overall, also will make his professional.

For Detroit, fans will get their first look at rookie tight end Eric Ebron, the 10th overall pick of the 2014 draft.
