Renowned Apple watcher John Gruber let slip about the debut of Apple's wearable next month but retracted his statement later on Twitter by calling it a joke.
It is no secret that Apple is planning to jump on to the wearable bandwagon soon. Major tech giants like Samsung, LG, Motorola and others have already launched their smartwatches but Apple's plans about its rumored iWatch are hazy.
Popular Apple watcher and blogger John Gruber let slip some great news for those who are awaiting the launch of Apple's first wearable device.
Gruber, while writing about Moto 360 in The Verge Friday, hinted at a possible Apple wearable soon. Posted on Gruber's Daring Fireball website, the comment said, "It looks like Motorola's designers tried to draw as much attention as they could to the 360's stupid flat-tire display shape. The only way this could get funnier would be if it doesn't even ship until after Apple announces their wrist wearable thing next month."
Gruber cleverly refrained from calling Apple's wearable as iWatch, a name that has widely been used for the upcoming smartwatch by the tech giant. In fact, the use of "wrist wearable thing" could also mean that Apple is planning a different wearable other than a smartwatch; a fitness band may be.
Earlier in June, 9to5Mac exclusively reported Apple was working with pro-athletes to test the new wearable device's fitness capabilities.
Gruber has a good track record when it comes to reporting Apple's imminent moves. Last year's iPhone 5S and 5C were predicted by the Apple blogger even before their release along with the initial size of the iPad Mini.
Gruber's comment went viral within a day and he took to Twitter to clear the air.
@CaseyNewton Cool, thanks. By the way, I have no idea whether Apple is planning wrist thing for September or October, just making a joke.

Gruber's comment on Apple's iWatch launch was a slip and the follow-up tweet just a cover-up? Guess we'll know when there are future predictions by the blogger or some official news from the Cupertino based tech titan.
