Robin Williams Death: Final Four Movies to be Released, 'Mrs. Doubtfire' Sequel Looks Unlikely

Robin Williams has produced a cinematic legacy in his almost 40 year career. He'll add four more films to his lengthy list of credits over the next year, but plans for a Mrs. Doubtfire sequel are in doubt.

Williams will star in two family-friendly movies this holiday season. He plays Joel McHale's father in "Merry Friggin' Christmas." The two men embark on a road trip to retrieve the gifts for McHale's son that he forgot at home. The Christmas comedy premieres on Dec. 7 and co-stars Lauren Graham and Candice Bergen.

"I have never met anybody with a bigger brain than him," McHale told the Confidenti@l about Williams in a July interview. "Him and Steve Martin probably have similar brain space. They can do more than other people."

The Oscar-winning actor also reprises his role as Theodore Roosevelt in "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb." The third and final installment of Ben Stiller's museum security guard film series hits theaters on Dec. 19, also marking Mickey Rooney's last on-screen role.

Stiller never forgot the first time he met Williams as a teenager.

"I met Robin when I was 13 at the Improv. I was there with my parents... and I heard this voice behind me saying 'Stay close to your mother you'll be safe! Stay close to your mother you'll be safe," Stiller told Rolling Stone. "I turned around and it was Robin. For a 13-year-old who was a huge 'Mork & Mindy' fan, it was sort of like the end of the world."

About 30 years later, Stiller got his chance to work with the comedy legend in the first "Night at the Museum" film.

"So working with him years later I always had this little voice inside of me going 'You are acting with Robin Williams! This is the coolest thing ever!'" he said. "I never got over being a fan."

Williams lends his voice to Dennis the Dog in the movie "Absolutely Anything," to be released in 2015. The movie tells a story of a disillusioned school teacher who "experiences a series of mishaps after discovering he has magical powers," according to IMDb. The British comedy film comes from "Monty Python" alum Terry Jones, who cast his former co-stars Terry Gilliam, John Cleese and Eric Idle for the other voice roles.

The indie film "Boulevard" premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival this year, but has not found a distributor, according to Variety. Williams plays a devoted husband with a secret life.

A "Mrs. Doubtfire" sequel looks doubtful following Williams death. No decision has been made on the film's future, although it most likely won't happen, sources told Variety. Screenwriter David Berenbaum had recently met with Williams to go over the script's second draft. Chris Columbus, who directed the first movie, had signed on to helm the sequel.

"[Williams] performances were unlike anything any of us had ever seen, they came from some spiritual and otherworldly place," Columbus said in a statement. "He truly was one of the few people who deserved the title of 'genius.'"
