Former "Lost" star Doug Hutchinson, 54, and Courtney Stodden, 19, are planning on remarrying after separating in November 2013, The Huffington Post reports.
The couple cited their 35-year age gap as the main reason for the short split, but they are engaged again and plan to renew their vows. The reality star confirmed her engagement on Twitter on Monday after a fan asked her if the rumors in the tabloids and on social media were true.
But it has also been reported that Stodden wanted to experience single life as a teenager. Shortly after their split, Stodden said she was excited to be a "normal" 19-year-old.
"Right now I'm just looking to have fun and to grow into who I am as a woman and be single and independent and build my own foundation," Stodden told Fox 411. "I'm just taking the time to be me and be single and be 19 and to try and be as much as a normal 19-year-old as I possibly can."
Her mother, Krista Keller, who has been supportive of the relationship, said that Stodden did date, but discovered that she really loves Hutchinson, according to People.
"She got a taste of being single when she went to the 'Big Brother' house in the U.K," Keller told People.
Stodden first made national headlines in 2011 when she married the 51-year-old actor at the age of 16. She met Hutchinson after signing up for an acting workshop taught by him on the recommendation of a family friend who had been working in Hollywood.
The two began a courtship online before Hutchinson knew Stodden's age. When he found out, he told her mother he would end the relationship with Stodden if she disapproved. Citing her daughter's devout Christianity, Keller let her daughter make her own decisions.
