Justin Bieber DUI: Singer Takes Plea Deal

Justin Bieber will plead guilty to lesser charges stemming from his arrest in South Florida in what police previously described as an illegal street race, Fox News reported Wednesday.

The 20-year-old pop star is expected to plead guilty to misdemeanor careless driving and resisting arrest without violence charges. He was originally facing a driving under the influence charge. The "Baby" singer will also agree to start anger management courses and make a $50,000 charitable donation.

Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach on Jan. 23 after what cops described as an illegal street race between Bieber's rented Lamborghini and a Ferrari driven by r&b singer Khalil Amir Sharieff. There was little evidence the drivers exceeded the speed limit and neither were charged with drag racing, according to Fox News.

Alcohol breath tests discovered that Bieber's alcohol level was below the 0.02 percent limit for underage drivers, but urine tests showed marijuana and Xanax in his system. He admitted to having smoked pot and taking the anti-anxiety drug before getting behind the wheel.

Bieber unleashed profanity at the officers when he was being arrested and was also charged with resisting arrest, as well as driving with an expired license.

Bieber in no stranger to police run-ins and legal trouble. The singer resolved another criminal case in July by pleading no contest to a misdemeanor vandalism charge for throwing eggs at a neighbor's house in Los Angeles. Bieber agreed to pay more than $80,000 in damages following the case.

A photographer is suing Bieber after he said he was roughed up while taking pictures of the singer outside a recording studio in Miami.

In Toronto, Bieber was charged with assaulting a limousine driver in December. His lawyers contend that he is not guilty in that case, according to Fox News.
