Singer Celine Dion announced that she will be clearing her schedule of all performances to focus on her husband's ongoing health issues.
People Magazine reported that the "Because You Loved Me" singer has postposed her Las Vegas residency and cancelled her Asia tour indefinitely due to her husband Rene Angelil's health issues, along with her own personal concerns.
"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children," Dion said in a statement on her official website. "I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support."
The couple has three children together - René-Charles, 13, and three-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson.
In December, Angélil, 72, removed a tumor from his throat, but his illness has caused "a very difficult and stressful time," according to a statement on Dion's website. He was originally diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999.
The statement added: "it's been a very difficult and stressful time for the couple as they deal with the day-to-day challenges of fighting this disease while trying to juggle a very active show business schedule, and raise their three young children."
The five-time Grammy winner has reportedly been fighting an illness that caused inflammation in her throat muscles and has not hit the stage to perform at Caesars Palace since July 29 - where she has performed full-time for more than three years. The singer's cancelled shows were slated to run through March 22, 2015, which included a performance in Tokyo on November 18 and 19 and in Manila on November 29.
In June, Angelil stepped down as Dion's manager, which a position he held for more than 30 years. He was replaced by Aldo Giampaolo, a former head of Cirque du Soleil's business unit.
"Celine and family have requested that their privacy be respected at this time," the post concluded.
