How many on duty policemen do you see driving a $100,000 Maserati?
That's exactly what a Braintree, Massachusetts patrolman thought this past weekend when he spotted a Maserati that was outfitted to resemble a police cruiser, The Associated Press reported.
Deputy Chief Wayne Foster said one of his patrolman pulled over the luxury sports car that was painted black and white and sported police shield identification decals on its doors, he told The Patriot Ledger.
The driver, who was not a real police officer, said he was simply assisting police "because other drivers noticed him and slowed down, thinking it was a police vehicle."
In addition to the obvious fact that police officers don't get issues Maseratis, Officer Foster noted that the door shields didn't contain the usual police phrase, "Protect and Serve." Instead they read: "Decepticons punish and enslave."
The psuedo-cruiser was also missing requisite blue roof lights, according to The Patriot Leger.
The driver's name was not made public, but he was issued a court sumons to face a charge of impersonating police.
