Savannah Guthrie Welcomes Baby Girl 'Vale' (PHOTOS)

Savannah Guthrie, "Today's" co-anchor, is officially a first-time mom.

The 42-year-old morning show co-host and her husband Michael Feldman welcomed their first child on Wednesday at a New York City hospital. The couple took to Twitter Thursday to announce the birth of daughter Vale Guthrie Feldman, who weighed in at 8 lbs., 5 oz. and measured 19.5 inches long.

"My 3 a.m. wakeup call sounds a lot different now. Sweeter," Guthrie tweeted. Feldman retweeted his wife's post and added, "But this sound is like music to my ears."

Guthrie told her morning show co-hosts that her daughter "has blue eyes, a little bit of blondish hair and the chubbiest cheeks you've ever seen. Mike and I are so overcome with happiness, gratitude and joy."

Co-host Matt Lauer said that he was texting Guthrie right before she went into labor. He sent a final text after experiencing long hours of silence, and Guthrie finally responded by sending a picture of her baby's foot, which the "Today" show retweeted.

"They named her [Vale] because she was so calm and so serene until ten o'clock last night," Lauer said on the morning show. "I actually talked to Savannah and Mike on the phone last night and the baby was fussing a little bit and she said 'but she was so peaceful!'"

He added: "They are over, overjoyed and everybody is doing great."

The birth of her child comes just two days after Guthrie announced she was going on maternity leave. Guthrie's morning co-hosts threw her a baby shower Monday, which included an unexpected phone call from her husband, who she married on March 15 in Tucson, Arizona.

During their wedding reception, Guthrie announced that she was pregnant with her first child.

Viewers and colleagues have been tweeting congratulatory messages to the TV journalist using the hashtag #CongratsSavannah.

"Vale Guthrie Feldman is here!" Lauer tweeted. "Savannah and Mike have a beautiful (and smart!) little girl! So much joy and excitement. We love her already!"
