Comedian Lewis Black slammed controversial radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh for his comments regarding actor Robin Williams' suicide on Tuesday, CBS Local reported.
Limbaugh said Williams' likely thought process leading up to the time of his death is due to his left-leaning and progressive political views.
"He had it all, but he had nothing," Limbaugh said on his show. "He made everybody else laugh, but was miserable inside. I mean, it fits a certain picture, or a certain image that the left has."
Black fired back at Limbaugh, calling him an "idiot" for making "cruel and stupid" statements about the reasons behind Williams' death in a Facebook post Wednesday.
"F**k you Rush Limbaugh. Your statements were beyond cruel and stupid. They were intolerable. Enough is enough from you. You are an idiot. Don't you ever demean the death of another human being. He was my friend. You disgust me."
Black's post has garnered over 263,000 likes as of Thursday. More than 30,000 Facebook members have shared it, and many fans have taken to the comments section to condemn Limbaugh as well.
Andrew Cassidy said: "Rush Limbaugh's pissed because he'll never inspire the same love, adoration, and respect that people have for Robin Williams. Vile, Vile human being."
Cassidy's comment received over 8,000 likes and 105 replies as of Thursday.
Limbaugh has since claimed he was misquoted and his statements were purposely taken out of context, according to The Daily Banter.
Lewis recounted how he heard about Williams' death, saying he was on a plane when the news came across in-flight television. At first he thought it was a cruel joke, but he cried when he realized it was true.
"It is sad. There is a hole in the universe. Once again...the good die young and pricks live forever. May peace finally be with him," Lewis said on Facebook on Tuesday.
