Drunk Arizona Teacher Blows .205 On Breath Test

Police found more than rulers and calculators in this Arizona math teacher's classroom supplies.

Kathleen Jardine, 57, was caught with alcohol bottles at school after her students told school officials that Jardine appeared to be drunk and was yelling at students, The Daily News reported.

Pinal County Sheriff's deputies administered a breath test and said the woman blew a .205. The federal legal driving limit is .08.

Jardine could also face a disorderly conduct charge for her behavior at Poston Butte High School. Initially, she denied drinking any alcohol when she was questioned by school administrators, but later admitted she drank on Tuesday night, Wednesday morning before school and during lunch in her classroom, reports AZ Family. She said she took a taxi cab to school because she was afraid that she was too drunk to drive.

A school security officer went into Jardine's classroom and found a 750 ml bottle of Fleischmann's Vodka, an empty single-serving size bottle of Beringer white wine and a half-full bottle of Sunny D, according to AZ Family. The teacher confirmed the alcohol was hers.

The school resource deputy interviewed six students who witnessed Jardine's erratic behavior. They reported that she was very intoxicated and cursed at students.

This isn't Jardine's first time getting into trouble with alcohol. She got an Extreme DUI after she was stopped in a school zone while driving home from school on Tuesday. Her BAC was measured at .257 by a breath test. She was arrested and her car was impounded, which led her to call a taxi to get her to work on Wednesday.

Jardine was previously a math teacher at Belen High School in New Mexico, but was fired in September 2011 after students reported that she was "acting strange and slurring her words." It was determined she was intoxicated and she was fired from her position.
