Police say a drunken commuter has stabbed three men at the Grand Central subway platform in New York City on Saturday night, according to Reuters.
The altercation happened early Saturday as an uptown No. 6 train arrived at Grand Central Terminal, Reuters reported. Police say the fight started when an intoxicated man named Ivan DeLeon bumped into a child while exiting the train.
They say the 38-year-old DeLeon stabbed one man in the chest, one in the arm and one in the stomach, but the child wasn't harmed, according to Reuters. The three men are being treated at Bellevue Hospital.
The argument escalated on the subway platform as DeLeon slashed and stabbed at the three men with a folding knife, Reuters reported.
The man who was stabbed in the chest is in critical but stable condition, Reuters reported. The other two suffered less serious injuries.
DeLeon was arrested on charges of assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, but it wasn't clear if he had a lawyer, according to Reuters.
DeLeon stabbed the men after getting into a dispute after a bumping into the child that was with the three men who were trying to board the train, Annette Markowski, a New York Police Department spokeswoman, said, Reuters reported.
DeLeon was belligerent and appeared to be drunk, Markowski said, according to Reuters. A witness on the platform helped subdue DeLeon until he was arrested by police, she said.
The police department does not release victims' names, Reuters reported.
