Christina Aguilera and fiancé Matt Rutler welcomed their daughter into the world, Saturday, August 16. Aguilera gave birth to the little girl at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre. Less than 24 hours later, the singer, 33, took to her Twitter account to announce that the couple has named their daughter Summer Rain Rutler.
"So proud to welcome our beautiful daughter Summer Rain Rutler into the world," the Grammy winner wrote on the microblogging website.
Us Weekly was first to break the news that the former "The Voice" coach was pregnant. The "Beautiful" singer already has one son, Max, 6, by her first husband Jordan Bratman, but baby Summer Rain is Rutler's first child.
The happy couple announced on Valentine's Day that they were engaged to be married, after meeting on the set of Aguilera's 2010 film "Burlesque." Aguilera has stayed out of the spotlight for most of her second pregnancy, something the new mom has relished. She tweeted in April about how excited she was for the months to come.
"So blissful in taking this time for creating all things blossoming new on the horizon...album, baby & beautiful music to come," she wrote.
This is not the first time a celebrity has given his or her child a unique name. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West named their daughter North West. Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow have a daughter named Apple. David Duchovny and Tea Leoni have a kid named Kyd. Sylvester Stallone has a son named Sage Moonblood. Jason Lee went a step further to name his child Pilot Inspektor. The list goes on.
