A new name has popped up as a fan-favorite to play Christian Grey in the highly anticipated movie "50 Shades of Grey." Enstarz is reporting that Maroon 5's Adam Levine now has a chance of landing the coveted role.
The 34-year-old singer might be in the running due to his huge fan base. His name began being thrown around as a potential Christian Grey after the video "Love Somebody" was released. In the video, Levine is seen showing off his toned body and getting covered in grey paint.
There is no doubt that Levine is nice to look at but he might not have the sex appeal and ruggedness needed to pull of the "Fifty Shades" character. He also lacks the acting experience. Fans of Levine's however have pointed out the singer nailed his role in FX's "The American Horror Story: Asylum." Take a look at his big role below.
Levine landed a part in the horror show as a Leo, a young newlywed that along with his wife played by Jenna Dewan-Tatum, breaks into an abandoned asylum to have kinky sex. Levine's character ties his wife to the bed before the two begin to get it on.
Levine hasn't gotten much buzz on Facebook about playing Grey. A fan page created for him only has one 'like' but he is getting quite of few praises on Twitter. Fans seem to be clearly excited about the latest rumor.
"I agree!!! Adam Levine as Christian Grey #fiftyshades"
"Adam Levine as Christian Grey?!?!?! They need to hurry up with that movie!"
"So allegedly Adam Levine might star as Christian Grey in the 50 Shades of Grey movies. #hottie now I need to read the books!"
"I always thought Adam Levine would be awesome if cast as Christian Grey and now there are rumors that he might get the part! #squeeee"
"If they are going to make a Fifty Shades of Grey movie starring Adam Levine as Christian Grey, I'm gonna be first in line!"
One fan even tweeted a picture of how she pictured Adam Levine as Grey. The only negative tweet about the rumor was a simple "NO."
Other names recently thrown into the "Fifty Shades" rumor mill include Hugh Dancy from "Hannibal" and Joseph Gordon-Levitt from the movie "Don Jon."
What do you think, could you see Adam Levine playing Christian Grey?
