New York Giants Rumors: David Wilson Begins Training for 2016 Olympics; Injuries for Prince Amukamara and Odell Beckham Jr.

Former Giants running back David Wilson retired from football a few weeks ago due to a career ending neck injury, but he's now planning a comeback for another sport. Meanwhile in Giants training camp, two players suffered injuries in the past few days.

Prior to the 2012 NFL Draft, everyone knew David Wilson was the star running back for the Virginia Tech Hokies, but the common football fan may not have known that Wilson was an All-American in track and field at college as well. And that's what Wilson will focus on now that his football career ended so abruptly. He spoke to a group of New York City school students and told them he will be focusing on training for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

"When I was involved in football, that's all I was thinking about was football," said Wilson, in this For The Win article. "That's not bad in my situation, because the person I am, I know I can make track. I'm strong enough to know that there's more to life than that. Some people might have taken it more heavy if they took the same approach I had as just focusing on one thing."

As Wilson moves on from his injury, Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. seemingly can't move on from his. The rookie from Louisiana State University was believed to hurt his hamstring on Monday, which he originally injured during OTAs and then re-injured it in the team's first training camp practice. On Monday, Beckham collided with a defender and made his way to the sideline where he remained for the rest of the practice, but coach Tom Coughlin insisted he was fine.

On the defensive side, cornerback Prince Amukamara is now dealing with a strained groin that he suffered in Saturday night's preseason game against the Colts. According to Conor Orr of the Star-Ledger, Amukamara left Saturday night's game as a precaution "mostly because the Colts were throwing plenty of deep routes and he didn't want to force himself to open up and sprint on a sprained groin."

The team said he would undergo an MRI on Sunday if he wasn't comfortable testing out the severity of the injury. There have been no updates regarding Amukamara's status.
