“Batman vs. Superman” star Ben Affleck has participated in The ALS Association’s Ice Bucket Challenge.
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge aims raise awareness about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a disease that affects voluntary muscle movements in the body. Those suffering from ALS will eventually lose the ability to walk, eat, talk and eventually breathe.
Affleck challenged his wife Jennifer Garner, Jimmy Kimmel, Neil Patrick Harris and Matt Damon to participate or donate $100 to the ALS Association. Since July 29, the ALS has received $15.6 million in donations. Check out the video of Affleck accepting the challenge here.
Affleck recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the “Batman vs. Superman” production. The actor is away of the backlash from fans claiming he is the right person to play Batman. Though Affleck isn’t concerned about the negativity, he is glad to see so many people are commenting about the production.
“Before I took the role, Warner Bros. gave me a bunch of past reactions to casting and said, ‘Are you sure you want to get into this? This is part and parcel of these movies now. There’s a lot of active fans with a lot of opinions.’ To me, having been through a certain amount of that, it doesn’t really… Everyone’s entitled to their opinion,” Affleck told EW.
“I wouldn’t have taken the part if I didn’t trust my instincts in terms of the filmmaking. I think Chris Terrio wrote a terrific script,” Affleck added later in the interview. “Zack’s a great visual director. And there’s an interesting take. I wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t think I could do it. I have the benefit of a lot of that understanding. But also, everyone is entitled to their opinion.”
“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is slated to hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
