Adrianne Palicki's superhero hopes were dashed in 2011 when NBC ditched its "Wonder Woman" pilot. It did, however, free her up to play Marvel superspy Bobbi Morse this season on ABC's "Agents of SHIELD."
Palicki will play the character better known as Mockingbird and will appear in "SHIELD's" fifth episode with the possibility of a return, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Marvel TV series first teased Mockingbird's casting during the show's presentation at Comic-Con in July. Sam Koenig (played by Patton Oswalt) mentioned to fellow agent Billy Koenig (also played by Oswalt) that "Bobbi just called in from the safehouse in you-know-where."
She called to let Director Coulson (Clark Gregg) know that "if he needs her, she's in." However, Morse may not arrive as an ally to the new director and his team, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Palicki shot promotional pictures for her role in "Wonder Woman," but the show didn't get any further. The "Friday Night Lights" alum didn't regret her short time with the show, although she was "devastated" when it got prematurely cancelled before ever airing.
"It was one of those things that was shocking," she told IGN last year. "But in retrospect, it was probably a blessing. It would've been a really hard thing to shoot. And I got to wear the costume - I should say, I got paid to wear the costume!"
The "G.I. Joe" actress joins a growing guest list for the ABC series. Other names set to appear this season include Kyle MacLachlan as Skye's (Chloe Bennet) father, Lucy Lawless as SHIELD agent Isabelle Hartly, Reed Diamond as Hydra villain Daniel Whitehall (a.k.a. Kraken), Nick Blood as a mercenary called upon by Coulson, Henry Simmons as agent Alphonso "Mac" Mackenzie and Simon Kassianides as Bakshi.
Palicki will also reprise her role on NBC's "About a Boy" for its second season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She plays David Walton's love interest on the comedy series.
