iPhone 6 Release Date: Patent Filing Hints At More Pixels and Automatic Volume Adjustment Depending on Distance From Ear

As iPhone fans hopelessly watch the Samsung Galaxy S4 commercials, they sit and wait for the launch of the successor to the iPhone 5. Rumors have already begun to circulate around the Apple’s next phone, including speculation about a June 2014 release date and whether or not it will be called the 5s or the 6.

The newest speculation is coming from a patent filing, according to ValueWalk.com. The rumors discuss a new feature that will automatically change the phone’s volume depending on how close phone is to the owner’s ear. The other rumor suggests the iPhone 6 will have twice as many pixels as the iPhone 5.

Reports from WeiPhone say the next iPhone will have the two times as much pixels as the current iPhone. Also, the phone’s screen will occupy more space on the front of the phone. The iPhone 5s or 6 will have a design that may be similar to the iPad mini.

According to Eric Slivka of Mac Rumors, a change to the next iPhone’s display may be unlikely because it is not common for Apple to adjust the display of the iPhone two years in a row.

The new patent filing from Apple has prompted analysts and fanatics to suspect a new feature that can gage the distance between the iPhone and your ear. The iPhone will then adjust the volume based on the distance. The patent filing points to the possibility of this new feature.

However, according to ValueWalk.com, patent filings like these appear all the time and are never carried through.

According to Peter Misek, an analyst for Jefferies, the next phone will likely be an iPhone 5s because that is what Apple’s supply chain is geared towards. Therefore the iPhone 6 would not debut till June 2014.
