HTC Unveils Windows Phone For The First Time In Two Years

For the first time since 2012, HTC is making a Windows phone.

The HTC One M8 for Windows is available exclusively through Verizon. The phone will cost $99 with a two-year plan, as Gigaom reports.

"By no means does this indicate we're moving away from Android," HTC spokesman Jeff Gordon said to CBC.

The device is a combination of the Android version of the HTC One M8 with some Windows Phone customization.

Similar to the Android HTC One M8, the device has an aluminum body, front-facing boom speakers, and the Duo Camera. It also has a Snapdragon 801 processor and a 5-inch 1080p screen.

The device's Windows Phone features include compatibility with the HTC Dot View Case and Microsoft's voice assistant, Cortana, who can be activated when the case is closed.

HTC One M8 also has a version of HTC's Blinkfeed adapted for Windows, which allows you to view more than one app at the same time.

The phone was available online yesterday, and made its debut in stores today.
