The Miami Heat continue to rebuild in the wake of LeBron James's departure. Among the names Miami reportedly is interested in are Leandro Barbosa, Andray Blatche, Emaka Okafor and Jordan Hamilton.
Miami appears to be looking for depth at the 2-guard position and in the paint. While Heat star Dwyane Wade works out with teammates in Indiana, president Pat Riley has his eye on a number of free agents to help round out the roster.
"(Miami) is serious about adding another shooting guard and a big man if it can find two good ones willing to take the veteran's minimum," Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald wrote on Wednesday. "After recently working out Jordan Hamilton (who signed with Toronto on Monday) and Chris Douglas-Roberts, the Heat also (have) inquired about Leandro Barbosa and Jordan Crawford, who both hold appeal to Miami.
"Among power rotation players, the Heat (have) shown interest in Emeka Okafor and (have) considered Ekpe Udoh. Preliminary inquiries were made on Andray Blatche and Jason Maxiell. Agent David Falk said he talked to the Heat about Elton Brand but that Brand is unlikely to end up here."
Miami also has been linked to former Washington Wizard forward Chris Singleton.
With James gone, Miami will lean heavily on Wade and Chris Bosh. The Heat need Wade, who missed 28 games last season to rest his knees, to stay healthy and Bosh, who averaged 20 points per game before signing with Miami, to up his production on offense.
