Former football star, Tony Gonzalez, has said he will not be returning to the field, but he recently acknowledged his desire to win a Super Bowl ring.
Now working as an NFL analyst for CBS Sports, Gonzalez said on Newsday that while he has been tempted to make a comeback, he doesn't want to go back on his "good luck" to retire on his own terms, according to NBC Sports.
"The temptation would be there, but I don't know what the gain would be," he said. "I've always wanted a ring. That's been my main goal as a player over the last 15 years of my career. You're really trying to get that ultimate goal. But I'd be a mercenary to come in and get a Super Bowl ring, play with a team for, what, six, seven weeks? And even if I get the ring, it wouldn't be the same as going through the fight with the team from the beginning to the end. I don't think that will happen. The temptation will be there, but I'm 100 percent happy with my decision."
Having been a professional for 17 years, Gonzalez retired from the game after last season, ending the season with 83 passes for 859 yards and eight scores, NFL.com reported. He said that teams have asked him to come back, but he didn't mention the names of the teams.
In addition to discussing his thoughts on his retirement, Gonzalez recently claimed that the Denver Broncos will go undefeated in the regular season and follow it up with a victory over the Seattle Seahawks in a rematch at the Super Bowl.
