Prostate Cancer: Study Finds Four Plants That Fight Cancer

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has found four plants that can fight existing prostate cancer.

A group of UK-based doctors created a capsule containing a concentrated blend of turmeric, pomegranate, broccoli and green tea, all of which are known to have anti-cancer properties. The doctors tested the capsule by giving it to half of an experimental group of 203 men with prostate cancer, and gave the other half of the random group a placebo pill, as Jamaica Gleamer reported.

The Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) was tracked by both groups to determine if the cancer was growing or not.

ASCO found that the PSA in the men in the placebo group increased 63 percent more than those who were taking the new pill over the experimental period of six months, reports Natural News.

Research on broccoli, green tea, pomegranate and turmeric is still being conducted, but Natural News reported that patients can add these plants to their everyday diet in the meantime.

The plants help slow down prostate cancer growth because of the way their chemicals mix with the body.

Natural News explains how these plants tie into cancer fighting:

Turmeric contains curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory agent that is believed to keep the cancer from spreading. Green tea and pomegranates target cancer cells, leaving the healthy cells alone, while containing the catechins and keeping the cancer from spreading. Broccoli cleanses out the liver, getting rid of toxins from consumed food, helping the body strengthen to fight the cancer cells.
