The "beef" between an Oregon man and police ended Tuesday after the man was arrested for stealing almost $3,000 worth of meat, Koin 6 reported.
Barry Trenell Sanders, 53, is accused of stealing $2,690.09 worth of meat from three different Safeway grocery stores throughout the span of two months.
He appeared in Multnomah County Circuit Court to be arraigned for two counts of first-degree theft, according to Koin 6.
Police say Saunders was caught on camera stealing meat on at least 13 separate incidents inside the grocery stores between July and August.
But how did Saunders allegedly do it?
According to police, he would conceal the meat inside a shopping cart and would leave without paying for it.
Safeway employees became suspicious after their meat shelves would be depleted but sales didn't increase, reported the Inquisitr.
That's when they decided to look through the security cameras. The investigation was conducted by Portland police and Safeway Loss Prevention staff, according to the Inquisitr.
Though no one knows Sanders' motives for stealing so much meat, some do have speculations.
According to the Inquisitr, some believe Saunders is part of a underground meat ring while others suspect he was getting his food ready for winter.
Either way, Sanders will appear in court Aug. 27.
