'Star Wars’ Fans Can Spread Wild Speculation With Rumor Generator

Director J.J. Abrams has kept "Star Wars: Episode VII" on complete lockdown and not much about the characters or plot has slipped out. Fan can add to the movie's speculation with a new app called "The 'Star Wars' Rumor Generator."

The website Slate launched the simple app that generates wild rumors for "Episode VII" using the limited knowledge available. So far, Disney and Abrams have only released the cast list, the screenwriters and a very basic plot line: "a continuation of the saga created by George Lucas set 30 years after 'Return of the Jedi.'"

Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher reprise their roles as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia, respectively. Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker also return as Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2. New cast members include Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o, Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Max von Sydow.

The rumors generated offer a possible movie poster, plot line and episode title. Only the cast names and episode title are switched out in each rumor. Here's how it reads:

"Unnamed sources tell us that 'Star Wars Episode VII" will focus on a Padawan learner (played by a new cast member) who must learn the ways of the Force at the hands of an aging Luke Skywalker. (New cast member) and (new cast member) will play the children of Han Solo and Princess Leia, and our intel tells us that together they will go up against a fearsome Sith Lord (played by a new cast member), along with a menacing motion-capture alien (played by Andy Serkis). Lastly - though we were sworn to secrecy - we can now say with a high degree of confidence that the sequel will be call "Star Wars Episode VII: (title)."

Abrams and the cast have more than a year to reveal some real details from the new film. "Star Wars: Episode VII" premieres on Dec. 18, 2015.
