Less than a week after checking herself into rehab for alcohol addiction, "20/20" anchor Elizabeth Vargas is reportedly facing divorce from her husband Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Marc Cohn.
People Magazine reported that the 51-year-old TV journalist and her husband of 12 years are going their separate ways after 12 years of marriage and two children together, 11-year-old Zachary and eight-year-old Samuel.
A source told People that "Marc and Elizabeth are in divorce proceedings. The kids are with him in New York while she seeks treatment." Another source close to the family told Us Weekly, "The two are indeed in proceedings, but the divorce is not yet final."
The couple dated for three years before getting married in New York in 2002. Vargas is also a step-mother to two of Cohn's children from his first marriage.
The news comes days after the TV journalist checked herself into a rehabilitation center while on vacation. In January, Vargas revealed on "Good Morning America" that she was an alcoholic and that it took her a long time to admit it to herself and her family.
Despite the rumored separation, Cohn, who has taken a break from touring, released a statement to People, offering support for Vargas, writing, "On behalf of Elizabeth's family, we are in total support of her recovery and want her to be well."
Vargas also released a statement saying, "I feel I have let myself, my co-workers and most importantly my family down, and for that I am ashamed and sorry. I am committed to battling and addressing this debilitating disease and want to thank everyone who has offered their unwavering support during this trying time."
