Twitter earned the top spot on Glassdoor's list of companies with the best "culture and values" on Friday, thanks to support from its employees.
Hundreds of thousands of U.S. employee surverys from different industries were submitted to the company-review site, according to CNET. For every list made by Glassdoor, only companies with at least 1,000 employees can be included.
Friday's list, which includes 25 companies, is the first to focus on culture and values in different companies. Other lists made in the past by Glassdoor include those for top-rate CEOs, best benefits, and favorite company to work for.
Scott Dobroski, Glassdoor's associate director of communications, said comments from employees revolved around three themes that gave Twitter so much support, Fortune reported.
"We saw employees talking about a supportive and motivational team-oriented environment," he said. "We saw employees talking about working for companies that had a great mission statement and generally did the right thing and acted with integrity."
Dobroski said the third theme was that employees wanted to work at a company where they could depend on colleagues for support and advice, which would provide the feeling of a "second family" at their job.
Meetings on the roof and friendly atmosphere also played a role in Twitter getting the top spot on Glassdoor's list, CNET reported.
"Team meetings on the roof are the best, great teamwork and a lot of smart people," a Twitter software engineer told Glassdoor. "I love how the 10 core values drive the company to always be better."
Eleven of the 25 spots on the list were taken by tech companies, which Dobroski said is due to employees at these companies believing strongly in their mission statements as they focus on making the world more connected and open, Fortune reported. He also said that company culture is one of the top five factors that employees look at when looking for a job, but added that salary is still the most important factor employees consider.
Other tech giants beaten by Twitter on the list include Facebook, Google and Apple.
