It took Nadal four sets to win his first-round match against Daniel Brands. Nadal, a favorite to when this year's title, hopes to spare his knee extra time on the court by quickly finishing his match. Despite the surprise first-set loss to Brands on Monday, Nadal still carries a lot of momentum coming into the Open — he's made it to the finals in the last eight tournaments he participated in, TennisEarth.com reports.

He'll be tested again on Thursday when he plays against 23-year-old Martin Klizan, who hasn't won nearly as many events as Nadal has. Round two will be the first time the men have ever faced each other on the men's circuit.

Nadal is predicted to "cruise through this one in convincing fashion." He's favorite to win in three sets.

The matches on Lenglen court start at 5 a.m. ET. Nadal vs. Klizan is the third match on the court, following Annika Beck vs. Victoria Azarenka.
