Ahead of the most-awaited release of 2015 - Chevrolet Corvette Z06 next year - the car maker announced that it will be priced at $78,000.
Chevrolet, the renowned car maker brand, revealed the price of its upcoming 2015 Corvette Z06 hard-top and convertible models. Expected to make a grand entry early next year, Chevrolet announced that its most powerful and advanced sports car model will retail starting $78,000 for the hard-top and $83,000 for the convertible model. The announcement comes months after the Corvette Stingray Z06 made its public debut at the New York Auto show in April.
Chevrolet will also let enthusiasts upgrade the specs of the Corvette with additional specs. As a part of the Corvette Racing program, Chevy said it will sell Carbon Fiber Ground Effects package and Performance Package separately for $2,995 and $7,995, respectively.
The Carbon Ground Fiber Effects package will include a functional carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber rocker panels and a larger rear spoiler to maintain high stability at great speeds. The Performance Package will be more inclined towards the ultimate performance of the car with Brembo carbon ceramic-matrix brake rotors to improve braking and handling, while reducing the upsprung weight, Chevrolet said on Friday. It will also include the features of the Carbon Fiber Ground Effects package and sport Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup tires, making it suitable for track races.
"The 2015 Corvette Z06's performance and technical capabilities place it in the elite fraternity of supercars," Harlan Charles, Corvette product and marketing manager, said in a press release, Friday. "Very few cars in the world deliver 650 horsepower, true aerodynamic downforce, carbon fiber and performance technologies such as Magnetic Ride Control, Performance Traction Management and an electronic limited slip differential - and none gives the driver a transmission choice or the choice of a coupe with a removable roof panel or a full-power-top convertible."
Equipped with a supercharged 6.2L V-8 engine rated at 650 horsepower (485 kW) and 650 lb-ft of torque (881 Nm), the Corvette Z06 will add an additional $995 destination fee on top of the car's MSRP.
