‘Game Of Thrones’ Director Expresses Interest In ‘Black Widow’ Movie

Marvel has no immediate plans to make a solo "Black Widow" in the near future, but director Neil Marshall still wants to throw his hat in the ring.

"I would love to do a Black Widow movie," Marshall told Vanity Fair. "That's perfect, I would love to do that."

The Emmy-nominated director prefers movies about strong women, who don't need superpowers to get the job done. That's what attracted him to Black Widow portrayer Scarlett Johansson in "Lucy."

"I'm less interested in people with superpowers because I can't identify with them. Very rarely do they get killed off, and when they do get killed off, chances are they're going to be back ... somehow," Marshall said.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has avoided giving a definite date or character for the studios' first female driven movie. He does "believe in doing it," he told Comic Book Resources in July.

"I think you're right about that, and I think it comes down to timing, which is what I've sort of always said, and it comes down to us being able to tell the right story," Feige said.

Captain Marvel/Ms. Marvel is the other most-talked about female superhero movie to possibly come from Marvel soon. Marshall picks Black Widow because of her real background.

"That character is really interesting, she doesn't have any superpowers, she just has extraordinary skills, and the world that she comes from, being this ex-K.G.B. assassin, I find that really fascinating," Marshall told Vanity Fair.
