An additional 24 bodies were found today in the Mediterranean Sea after a boat overturned near Italy over the weekend.
The boat was undergoing rescue operations and assisted thousands of would-be refugees who are fleeing Libya for Europe, reports The Associated Press.
After the incident, two navy patrol boats pulled 364 people from the water alive. The rescue teams originally thought only six people had drowned, according to International Business Times.
Those found - both dead and alive - are being transported to Augusta, Italy.
Human smugglers take Libyans to Italy often, as many are trying to escape Libya's increasing instability.
Over 100,000 people arrived in Italy so far in 2014, reports AP. This surpasses the previous yearly record during the Arab Spring uprisings in 2011 where there were 62,000 migrants.
