Shoulder Injury Forces Chan Sung Jung to Pull Out of Fight with Akira Corassani

Chan Sung Jung, who has been out of the UFC for a year due to injuries, will have to wait a little longer to make his return to the Octagon.

"The Korean Zombie" was originally scheduled to fight Akira Corassani on Oct. 4th, but a strain in his shoulder has forced him to withdraw from the fight, according to MMA Fighting. The injury affects the same shoulder that the one-time featherweight contender dislocated in his fight with Jose Aldo at UFC 163 in Aug. 2013.

"Yes, unfortunately, [Jung] strained the shoulder that he dislocated in the Aldo fight," said Brian Rhee, Jung's manager.

Rhee added that no structural damage was done to the shoulder, and that Jung only has to go through rehab for four weeks, Yahoo! Sports reported. He said doctors will reevaluate Jung's shoulder afterwards.

Jung has so far been successful in the UFC's 145-pound division, winning three straight fights prior to his loss to Aldo.

Three of Jung's four fights in the UFC have resulted in an end of the night bonus, MMA Fighting reported. One of these fights was a rematch with Leonard Garcia, who Jung had previously fought at WEC 48 in 2010 in a bout that was named Fight of the Year. The rematch, which was held one year later, ended in a victory for Jung, who used a twister submission that is rarely used in MMA.
