Sony has confirmed the PlayStation Network is running normally after multiple users complained of technical issues.
The tech company experienced an attack on their services on Aug. 24. Sony released a statement about the situation on its PlayStation blog:
“The networks were taken offline due to a distributed denial of service attack We have seen no evidence of any intrusion to the network and no evidence of any unauthorized access to users’ personal information.
“In light of today’s issue, the networks will not undergo the regularly scheduled maintenance, which was planned for Monday, August 25. We will provide an update shortly for when the maintenance will be rescheduled. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this issue. Thanks for your patience and support.”
Users experienced blackouts from the network, issues logging into personal accounts, difficulty connection to multiplayer games and more.
The company was still experiencing issues running the PlayStation network on Monday, but confirmed Tuesday the network should be back to normal.
Reuters reported the cyber attack on the PlayStation Network coincided with a bomb scare on a commercial flight to the United States, where a Sony executive was on board.
A Twitter user named LizardSquad claimed they were responsible for the attack on the PlayStation Network.
"Sony, yet another large company, but they aren't spending the waves of cash they obtain on their customers' (PlayStation Network) service. End the greed," the user posted on Sunday.
