Motorola is reportedly readying its next model of highly successful Moto G smartphone with improved camera, bigger screen size and expandable memory.
Motorola, the renowned smartphone-making company acquired by Lenovo, is building the Moto G successor to make it more appealing to budget-conscious shoppers. In the latest leaked report by hellomotoHK on Facebook, renderings of the upcoming Moto G2 are compared directly with its predecessor, the Moto G. Featuring a slightly increased screen size along with other tweaks, Motorola will likely debut the next budget smartphone at an event on September 4 alongside its flagship Moto X+1 and the coveted Moto 360.
Based on the leaked photos, the screen size will apparently get a boost from 4.5 inches to 5 inches along with super-thin bezels, PhoneArena reports. The camera will be upgraded from 5 megapixels on the rear to 8 megapixels. Additionally, Motorola will likely include two front-facing speakers for the upcoming device and a microSD slot to expand storage on the device.
The leaked images also showed a removable back cover so it is safe to assume that new Motorola shells will follow the launch. Previous rumors also point toward unchanged 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM and up to 16GB of internal storage.
Looks-wise, the Moto G2 appears to have a closer resemblance with the original Moto G with a curved plastic back. A separate report from Tech Radar suggests the upgraded specs will come at a cost, the handset will retail for around $335.
Without official confirmation for these specs, nothing is certain. But more concrete details will surface at the IFA 2014 event in Berlin, where several new handsets from different tech companies are expected to arrive.
