“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” has released the first posters of the rebel soldiers.
The warriors of District 13 include Cressida (Natalie Dormer), Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Messalla (Evan Ross), Boggs (Mahershala Ali), Castor (Wes Chatham) and Pollux (Elden Henson). Check out the character posters in the slideshow above.
Fans can expect some changes to the “Mockingjay” storyline. Director Francis Lawrence recently explained to Entertainment Weekly about how the production adapted the novel to the big screen.
“Instead of changing the plot and changing characters what we did was have the opportunity to show scenes that could have been happening at different times in the book,” Lawrence told EW. “For us it’s world expansion instead of changing things. I think it’s exciting for the fan to see certain things. So we’ve been able to open the world up in this and see some new places. We get to see some new districts this time and the scope gets quite large.”
Lawrence claimed the extra scenes allowed the production to expand on different characters’ storylines. In “Mockingjay,” Katniss encounters new people in District 13, and the new setting causes her to question who she can put her trust into.
The heroine finds herself in a very confusing time; she wants to save Peeta but knows heading to the Capitol on her own is a suicide mission. Katniss has also become the symbol of the rebellion, a responsibility she has to acknowledge even if she doesn’t want it.
“It’s a very confusing, conflicted, complicated time for Katniss,” Lawrence explained. “Having gone through the games one more time and having lost Peeta and having been run through the wringer, she’s even more damaged. So you find her in a more agitated place. She’s distraught, confused, angry.”
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” is slated to hit theaters on Nov. 21.
