Rick Schroder, a former child star, has expressed his sympathy for troubled actresses Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes.
"My heart goes out to them. I wish some people would intervene on their behalf," he told ABC News Now.
Schroder starred in "Silver Spoons", a popular TV show in the 1980s.
"They are in a place right now that is not good. A lot of people around them don't care about them and want to capitalize on it. I feel bad for them," said the 43-year-old Schroder. He has acted in "NYPD Blue" and "24" as an adult.
How Bynes and Lohan will react to this new show of support is hard to tell.
Bynes publicly hit out at a recent attempt by Lance Bass to reach out. Bass was the producer of "Love Wrecked", a film in which Bynes acted. On the "Mark and Mercedes" radio show that airs in Las Vegas, Bass reportedly said, Wednesday that Bynes had some "obvious mental problems," which she wasn't able to see. "No one is able to get to her. I'm actually really scared for her, and I hope someone is able to get to her to give her the help she needs," added Bass who has worked with Bynes in "Love Wrecked".
Bynes' retort was sharp, aggressive and yes, contained the word "ugly". "I ignored Lance Bass on twitter and now he is saying I have a mental illness. Sorry you're an ugly ex boy band member w/ no talent or career," she tweeted. "I haven't spoken to Lance Bass in 11 years. To say I have a mental illness out of nowhere makes me lash out! You're making me crazy!" she added later.
"Ouch- The Amanda I know would never had said something like this to me- either this is a fake person or she really does have a mental illness. Way too sad. I reached out- all i can do," responded Bass on Twitter.
"Now I really don't think this is Amanda- we shot LoveWrecked together 7 years ago and she was just at my bday party 3 years ago. Hmmm 11?" said a later tweet from him.
