Several female celebrities are suddenly finding themselves at the center of a massive phone hack that claims to have leaked numerous nude selfies. According to TMZ, explicit photos said to belong to stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, Ariana Grande, Kate Upton and Victoria Justice are making the rounds on the Internet.
Reportedly some of the photos of Lawrence are full-frontal nudes while others show the Oscar-winning actress in bathing suits. TMZ also claims that some of pictures were supposedly taken by Lawrence herself, and others appear to be taken by someone else.
Lawrence's rep released a statement to TMZ and said the pictures are "a flagrant violation of privacy. The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence."
Justice has already responded to the leak and said the photos do not belong to her.
"These so called nudes of me are FAKE people. Let me nip this in the bud right now. *pun intended*," she tweeted.
Actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, whose name was mentioned in the leak, confirmed that the photos do belong to her, writing, "Knowing those photos were deleted long ago, I can only imagine the creepy effort that went into this. Feeling for everyone who got hacked. To those of you looking at photos I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our home, hope you feel great about yourselves."
According to BuzzFeed News, the leak was traced back to a user on 4chan. The hacker claims to have even more photos of the "Hunger Games" actress Lawrence as well as explicit video. The person was allegedly able to get access to the photos due to an iCloud leak.
The pictures were posted on 4chan in an attempt to earn bitcoins, BuzzFeed reports. Not all of the pictures' authenticity has been confirmed. Reportedly the hacker shared a screenshot of his desktop that includes hundreds of explicit photos and videos not yet released, said to belong to celebrities.
Names on a master list include Lawrence, Grande, Upton, Justice, Winstead, Kim Kardashian, Kirsten Dunst, Hope Solo, Krysten Ritter, Yvonne Strahovski, Teresa Palmer, Mary Kate Olsen, Rihanna, Cara Delevigne, and Gabrielle Union among others.
