An Indian teen, who was arrested 20 months ago for gang-raping a student in New Dehli, is becoming an award-winning painter while serving his sentence.
Shuchi Goel, a psychologist at the corrections home, revealed that the teen's artwork doesn't appear to be expressing anger, The Washington Post reported.
"This month, his paintings won a prize at a competition in the city," Rajiv Lakra, superintendent at the juvenile corrections home, told WP. "He was quite anxious but also hopeful the day he went to receive the prize. If he changes, the world is ready to accept him. We are working toward that goal."
A group of men lured a woman student and her male friend into an unauthorized vehicle, and then sexually assaulted both of them, reported the Indian Times. The incident occurred on Dec. 16, 2013.
All of the men involved in the gang-rape were sentenced to death, except for the teen, since he was a minor. The teen was sentenced to a maximum of three years in a reformation home by the juvenile justice board, according to the Indian Times.
