Justin Bieber, 20, was arrested on Friday (Aug. 29) near his hometown in Ontario, Canada after crashing his All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) into a minivan. According to PIX11, the "Beauty and the Beat" singer got into a physical altercation with the driver of the minivan after the crash.
Ontario Provincial Police arrested Bieber and charged him with dangerous driving and assault. He was released from jail on Friday on a promise that he would appear in court on Sept. 29. Earlier Friday, Bieber was photographed on the ATV with girlfriend Selena Gomez.
According to TMZ, the pop star was riding the vehicle when a minivan driven by paparazzi started following him. His attorney, Brian H. Greenspan, told E! News that Bieber was fully cooperating with the investigation.
"Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's peaceful retreat in Stratford this weekend was unfortunately disrupted by the unwelcome presence of paparazzi," Greenspan said. "This has regrettably resulted in charges of dangerous driving and assault. Mr. Bieber and Ms. Gomez have fully cooperated in the police investigation. We are hopeful that this matter will be quickly resolved."
The singer is currently on probation for two years because of an egging incident involving his Los Angeles neighbor, so his recent arrest could result in a violation, TMZ reports.
