Medical Marijuana Or Employment? Princeton Employee Forced to Make Decision Over Pot Card

A Princeton University employee is faced with the tough decision of choosing between his job and medical marijuana.

"They're basically backing me into a corner and asking me to choose between my livelihood and your health," Dom DeZarn, senior operations manager of campus dining, tells NJ.com while staging a one-man protest on Princeton's campus.

DeZarn, who was employed by Princeton University for 18 years, says he was told he couldn't continue his job while taking medical marijuana, according to The Associated Press.

However, Princeton University tells AP DeZarn he wasn't cornered into choosing one or the other. They say they asked him to discuss "reasonable accommodations" with them while placing him on paid leave.

DeZarn has spasms related to inflammatory bowel disease and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder related to his service in the U.S. Army and Navy, which is why he is using the medical marijuana, according to NJ.com.

"I wasn't trying to pull anything on them or get high at work," DeZarn tells NJ.com.
