CeeLo Green Apologizes on Twitter For Rape Tweets: 'Those Comments Were Idiotic, Untrue' (VIDEO)

CeeLo Green took to Twitter to apologize for posting a series of tweets in which he said that rape only happens if the person is "conscious."

"I truly and deeply apologize for the comments attributed to me on Twitter," the 40-year-old singer wrote on Tuesday. "Those comments were idiotic, untrue and not what I believe."

The former "The Voice" coach also posted a link to his song "Bridges" on Youtube and wrote, "This song is my absolute truth! It's all I ever wanted to be as an artist, man, and human being. I wholeheartedly believe I was born with this purpose. I love everyone, Lo."

Last week, Us Weekly reported that the "Forget You" singer avoided jail time after pleading no contest to drug charges that contended he'd slipped a woman ecstasy without her consent before going to her hotel room in 2012.

Green's lawyer claimed that the pair had "consensual relations." He was sentenced to "three years of formal probation and ordered to complete 360 hours of community service and 52 Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous meetings."

He took to Twitter to express his opinions on the judges decision, writing, "If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent. People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!! When someone brakes on a home there is broken glass where is your plausible proof anyone was raped."

In another, he tweeted, "so if I TRIED but did NOT succeed but the person said I DID then what really happened?"

The tweets were later deleted and Green temporarily deactivated his account but clarifying his earlier comments, writing, "I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context. I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I'd never condone the harm of any women. Thank you."

Deadline reported that Green's TBS series "The Good Life" was also canceled Tuesday after one season. No comments were made on whether the rapper's recent sandal triggered the cancellation.
