Betty White is alive and well, despite falling victim to a death hoax.
The L.A. Times reported some fans misread the headline of a satirical news article about the 92-year-old actress dyeing her hair. The word "dye" was mistaken for "die" - which sent fans into a frenzy, mourning her fake passing on social media.
"Actress Betty White, 92, dyes peacefully in her Los Angeles home" read a headline published on the website Empire News.
The article included a quote from the witty Golden Girls actress about having to dye her hair blond during her career.
"Oh, I started dyeing it ages ago when my color started to fade away to a more whiteish, greyish color," White reportedly said. "I thought to myself, 'Well Betty, if you can't have the dark color anymore, might as well try on the blonde for a while,' and it just kind of stuck. When I played Rose on Girls, the joke about my natural hair color made it into several episodes. I've always had a sense of humor about it."
A representative for the actress told the L.A. Times that White was doing well and busy on set shooting her show Hot in Cleveland alongside Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick.
