A body has been found near the house of a missing 8-year-old Arizona girl, police said Wednesday.
Isabella 'Bella Grogan-Cannella was reported missing Tuesday from her house in the northwestern Arizona. Police said they have not identified the body yet.
According to Bullhead City Police Chief Brian Williamson, they found the body at noon local time. He did not say whether there were any signs of foul play, or in what condition the body was found, reports Reuters. "At this time we cannot confirm this is Bella," Williamson said adding that the county medical examiner will determine whether it is Isabella or not. He also said that they were not ruling out abduction in the case.
At least 100 law enforcement personnel were deployed to look for the e girl and police, firefighters and volunteers have been searching Bullhead City neighborhoods, parks and river areas.
Family of Isabella reported her missing before dawn Tuesday from their home in Bullhead City, along the Colorado River around 100 miles southeast of Las Vegas. Officials did not find any signs of a break-in or struggle at the home, reports the Associated Press.
The girl was last seen in a green, ruffled, sparkly tank top and dark shorts, and might have been barefoot. She is 4 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs about 85 pounds. Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said that Isabella's family told police she was not in her bed or in the house. According to her mother, Isabella generally did not go anywhere without telling an adult.
The family is cooperating in the investigation, Fromelt said.
