Evander Holyfield May Lose Driver's License Over Failure To Make Child Support Payments

Former Undisputed World Champion Evander Holyfield may be facing license revocation after claims that he has failed to make child support payments.

The Georgia Department of Human Services has been chasing the boxing legend as they are reporting that he has failed to pay more than $300,000 in child support for his daughter, Emani Holyfield.

In September, official court paperwork showed that the he owed $563,900.91 in child support but made a considerable first payment lowering the debt.

Holyfield, who recently auctioned off a number of personal items and memorabilia, is reportedly mandated to pay $3,000 per month in child support for Emani.

Now a state judge has allowed the Division of Child Support Services to start the process of taking away Holyfield license "as an incentive to get him to pay."

A hearing is set for August.

Holyfield made over $250 million over the course of his boxing career, and is the only boxer to ever become a five-time World Heavyweight Champion.

Influenced by local boxing legend Carter Morgan, Evander quickly paid attention to the "man who didn't say much, but when he did" people listened.

Morgan became a mentor and father figure to Evander when he began boxing at the age of eight.

"Carter Morgan's influence on Evander was profound. He taught him not only how to fight but how to behave in and around the ring, and it was Coach Morgan's pronouncement that he could become the champion of the world that set Evander on the path that would lead him to greatness."

One of the most memorable bouts of Evander's career was on June 28, 1997; the fight became known simply as "The Bite" - recognized as one of the biggest sports stories of the twentieth century.

Mike "The Baddest Man On Earth" Tyson was reeling over a previous fight where Evander had knocked him out and bit Evander's ear in the third round of their second fight.

Holyfield did not let that stop him.

He continued to fight - all the while missing a piece of one of his ears - and 13 seconds further into the fight, Tyson bit Evander's other ear, immediately passing on the win to Evander once more.
