Motorola finally brought its highly anticipated Moto 360 smartwatch to its online store, Google Play Store and Best Buy, Friday.
Motorola originally unveiled the Moto 360 timepiece in March after revealing plans of entering the wearable space at this year's Mobile World Congress. Right from the beginning, the smartwatch managed to attract a massive audience for its exquisite design. The smartwatch space has been bombarded with entries from giants like Samsung, LG and startups like Pebble, but Moto 360 was on people's close-watch for months.
As for the smartwatch's specs, Moto 360 packs a 1.5-inch dial with 320 x 290 resolution and 205 ppi. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and features a backlit LCD to display notifications. Like many other smartwatches in the market, the Moto 360 also runs Google's Android Wear along with other specs like 4GB storage, integrated heart rate monitor, pedometer, 320mAh battery and IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. With a wireless charging dock, Moto 360 can be charged to last "all day."
The Moto 360 offers a minimalistic look with a single button, vibration motor for notification alerts and dual microphones to carry out voice commands. It can be paired with any Android smartphone running version 4.3 or higher.
For early buyers of the Moto 360, Motorola is offering a limited-edition gray leather band with suede finish. The smartwatch will come with a standard black leather strap or with two metal chain option for an extra $50. The metal bands will be available this fall and early buyers can upgrade to the metal band for $80 and purchase leather bands separately for $30.
