Starbucks Adding Two New Types Of Coffee Shops

Starbucks is adding two new types of stores in Seattle and New York in attempt to make their coffee shops more upscale.

A Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room are coming to the coffee giants' hometown of Seattle. The Tasting Room will give customers the opportunity to try different flavors while learning about the coffee.

"The launch of the 15,000-square-foot tasting room comes as many retailers are seeking ways to make shopping in their stores a memorable experience instead of a routine errand," the Washington Post reported.

The first Reserve Roastery will appear in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle in December. Starbucks plans for the new store to boost the number of coffees they offer, according to Fox Business News.

On top of the new type of coffee shop appearing in Seattle in a few months, New York can also look forward to a new Starbucks concept that's geared more towards their pace.

In 2015, express stores are coming to Manhattan. The store will be a little different from the others. It will have digital payments and mobile ordering to speed up the service. Because it is dubbed as an express store, there will be a limited menu.

Starbucks expects this new type of store to be successful in a city as busy as New York because their locations with drive-thru windows already have the highest sales growth, WP reported. Since commuters like the drive-thru, the company believes they will love these fast-paced express stores just as much.

"We plan to take this super premium experience to cities around the world," said Starbucks Chief Executive Howard Schultz.
