GetTaxi is now competing with ride-sharing services Uber and Lyft by offering a $10 flat fee for rides in Manhattan.
The Tel Aviv-based company said in a blog post Thursday that rides will be offered through the end of the year and that customers will be able to call for an unlimited number of rides, according to Businessweek. The rides will only be available in Manhattan, and customers will have to pay extra for trips that last for over an hour.
New York has become a center for competition between companies in the ride-sharing market, with Uber revealing details last month about its Operation Slog program, which is intended to help the company attract drivers from rivals. Lyft was given permission to operate in New York in July, and has claimed that over 5,000 rides have been booked and then cancelled by employees at Uber.
GetTaxi added in its post that customers can call for rides at any time during the day, according to The Consumerist.
Passengers are expected to still offer a tip for the services because tips are not included in the fare.
GetTaxi raised $150 million last month so it could begin operating in New York for corporate customers, Businessweek reported. The company's total funding currently stands at over $210 million.
This year also saw other ride-sharing companies raise their funding, with Lyft obtaining $250 million from Alibaba Group and other investors in April, and Uber increasing its funding to $17 billion in June.
