Finally married! Neil Patrick Harris and his longtime love David Burtka are officially newlyweds.
After 10 years and two kids together, the couple said "I do" during an intimate ceremony in Italy on Saturday, People Magazine reported.
"We happily confirm that Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were married in Italy in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their close friends and family," a representative for the actor told People.
Harris tweeted about his exciting news on Monday with a picture of the couple during the ceremony. He wrote, "Guess what? @DavidBurtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup, we put the 'n' and 'd' in 'husband.'"
Both grooms wore custom Tom Ford tuxedos, and the ceremony was officiated by the couple's friend and mentor, "How I Met Your Mother" producer and director Pam Fryman.
Kelly Ripa, from "Live! With Kelly and Michael," attended the weekend wedding and shared new details during Monday's episode. The TV personality said the wedding was "a very quiet" and "very private" event.
"It was a beautiful, beautiful family affair in Perugia, Italy," Ripa said after revealing that Harris gave her permission to talk about his wedding. "They rented a castle or I think they rented it! Sir Elton John performed. There were fireworks. The food was amazing. There were magic tricks, because you know, Neil is way into magic."
Harris and Burtka's three-year-old twins, Harper and Gideon, also took part in the ceremony.
"Harper was going to be the flower girl and Gideon was going to be the ring bearer, and he said, 'I don't want to be the ring bearer!'" Ripa recalled. "He said, 'I want to be the orange boy.' And he passed out oranges to everybody as he came down the aisle. He came up with it on his own. He had his little tux and his top hat and he was passing out oranges."
Sir Elton John sang during the reception, People reported.
At the time, Harris tweeted, "It PASSED! Marriage equality in NY!! Yes!! Progress!! David and I did propose to each other, but over five years ago! We've been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date."
"[They] got up and said, 'You know, many, many years ago, this would not be possible. We're so thankful and grateful to everybody for supporting us and our families, and how our children have each other to sort of look to each other as another example of a family like ours and how the definition of a family is changing, always,'" Ripa shared.
