Liam Neeson hasn’t been asked to join the “Star Wars: Episode VII” cast, in case you were wondering about a Qui-Gon Jinn appearance.
Neeson spoke to HeyUGuys about the upcoming Lucasfilm and Disney production. The former Jedi Master claimed he wouldn’t want anyone taking on his role, but hasn’t been approached to reprise it.
“I most certainly would,” Neeson said when asked if he would take on the character again. “I certainly don’t want anyone else playing [Qui-Gon Jinn]. I don’t know what the current story now, at all. I think it’s Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, it’s [their] characters’ generation. I came way, way before that.”
Though it’s unlikely fans will get to see a Qui-Gon Jinn cameo, there is always the possibility of he could return as a Force Ghost if the production wanted Neeson back in the franchise.
“Star Wars: Episode VII” cast member Adam Driver recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the production, explaining the set up of the next film allows the franchise to expand its universe.
“The thing about Star Wars that’s so good—sure there’s this huge [canvas],” Driver told EW. “It’s space, it’s a long time ago in a galaxy far away. That’s set up immediately. But in the midst of all those things, what has made those movies last so long is that they’re all grounded, which is something that is not so far off from every movie with huge universal themes of siblings and parents and betrayal and trust. That’s so generic and obvious, but it’s hard to balance those things.”
However, the “Star Wars” cast is pretty packed as it is, with Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o and “Game of Thrones” alum Gwendoline Christie joining the ranks. Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker are also reprising their roles in the franchise.
“Star Wars Episode 7” will be released to theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
