AMC released a minute-long trailer for Season 5 of "The Walking Dead," titled "Never Let Your Guard Down." The clip shows Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) telling his son Carl (Chandler Riggs) that no matter what he thinks, he's never going to be safe. It also shows the group breaking into a church, getting into a fight with the people at Terminus and fighting off a lot of zombies.
"It's not over till they're all dead," Rick says, probably referring to the Termites.
The words "Hunt or be Hunted" also flash across the screen, once again hinting that the cannibals or The Hunters from the comic could be introduced this season. It was previously rumored that the Termites were people-eaters, but that hasn't been confirmed. Last week, AMC released the official Season 5 poster with the same "Hunt or be Hunted" tagline.
In related news, the network officially signed the still-untitled spinoff of "The Walking Dead." It was announced on Friday that AMC ordered a pilot of the series, which is set to premiere in 2015. According to USA Today, "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman will produce the show along with Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert.
David Erickson will serve as executive producer and helped Kirkman write and create the new series.
"Almost from the beginning of 'The Walking Dead,' fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world. In fact, beyond requests for zombie cameos, it's the question I get asked the most," AMC President Charlie Collier told USA Today. "Obviously, we all take our stewardship of the original franchise incredibly seriously and we, along with Robert, Gale, David and now Dave, are all proceeding with extreme care in order to ensure that we are offering fans something truly compelling, engaging and distinct. We're thrilled to be taking this next step with these remarkable partners."
The show, which is being called a companion series, will feature an entirely new cast in a different area of the world, but still battling the zombie apocalypse.
Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" premieres Sunday, Oct. 12 at 9 p.m.
